The Drifter's Promise Page 20

He pulled her onto the dancefloor and pulled her close. "Just relax and let your body follow mine." He told her. "And I don't even care if you step on my toes."

She giggled as the champagne he had ordered after supper was affecting her now.

After a slow waltz, he took her to their room.

She was a little giddy and a little nervous too. "I'll go get us a pot of coffee while you get comfortable."

  "Okay," she smiled.

She opened her valise and pulled out a silk gown that Annie had given her. But as she was rummaging through it, she found a very skimpy outfit inside. She wasn't sure where it came from, but it left little to the imagination. Who had put that in there, she wondered?

When Wes came in, he saw her putting it up to her body and looking in the full-length mirror at herself.

She flung it on the bed, "I don't know where that came from."

He chuckled, "It came from me, sweetheart. In case the little imp comes out in you again."

  "What are you talking about?"

"You wanted to be a saloon girl, I got you something you could dress up in, if you become my bold wife, which I'm beginning to think you might." He teased.

"You think I'd wear something like that?"

"I don't know, we'll see." He winked and kissed her.

"Are you going to get comfortable too?" she asked.

"Sure," he took his tie off, and took the coat of his tux off and laid it neatly in the chair close to the bed.

Then he opened a bottle of champagne and poured them both a glass.

"I think we should have a toast."

  "Okay," she agreed.

"To many long years of happiness for us." He said.

  "Oh, that's nice," she smiled.

But after another glass she was really feeling much better and bolder.

She laid back on the bed and he followed her, leaning over her. "I thought of this time many times on my journey with the horses."

  "Did you?"

"Yes." She sobered for a moment, then she raised up and kissed him.

She hadn't meant to be so amorous, but his lips were so soft. He was saying such sweet things to her and he pulled back the covers and she slid in. He followed slowly, his eyes never leaving hers.

"Don't be afraid of me, sweetheart, I'll never hurt you."

  "I know."

  "You do?"

Now she was letting go of all her fears and smiled. "The day you took your shirt off in the barn, oh, my, I was so flustered. On one hand I wanted to throw myself in your arms, and on the other, I wanted to run. But now, I'm ready. I want you my husband, to make mad passionate love to me, and teach me how to be a good wife to you."

He chuckled, pulling her closer, "Honey, there is no teaching in love. You either feel it or you don't."

She smiled, "I feel warm, I feel my heart beating so fast. I feel my body reacting to your looks, your touches, and your kisses. And strangely, your words set me on fire."

"And do you like the sensations?"

"Oh yes, yes, I do!" she smiled. "But what do we do first?"

"First," he smiled, "We take this beautiful gown off of you."

"Oh, but there is nothing underneath." She said innocently.

"I know, that's the whole idea."

"Will you take your clothes off too?" she asked with a smile.

"I'll be glad to," he smiled back.

He stood her up and told her to raise her arms and he slipped the gown off.

  "You're so beautiful." He murmured.

  "Me?" she gasped.

"You… " he gazed from her golden head of curls to the ripe sweetness of her breasts to the small waist, and the rounding hips. "You are perfect."

When he kept staring, she put her hands on her hips, "It's your turn."

He sat down, took his boots off, and she helped.

Then he stood up and undid his shirt.

Before he could get it off, she was touching him there, on his chest. Her fingers raked over him, touching his nipples recklessly. He jerked.

  "Something wrong?"

"No, but if you keep doing that, it's gonna be hard to take my pants off."

"Oh, okay, I'll wait." She giggled.

"What happened to my shy little wife?"

She sat down on the bed and shook her head. "When I saw that outfit you put in my valise, I thought about our conversation of me being a saloon girl."

He pulled her chin up and smiled into her red face.

"And maybe after we make love, I'll wear it, just for you."

"Just for me?" He smiled sexily.

  "Just for you." She chuckled.

He undid his pants and put them in the chair. Then he pulled her up against him and just held her close, absorbing her body into his. He sighed so contently. "You're an amazing woman."

"Annie told me that what a man and a woman do in their bedroom, is no one's business and even God approves, as long as they both want it."

  "That's true Kate."

She wrapped her arms around him, pulling him down for a kiss. He picked her up and laid her on the bed, then he joined her.

But he seemed to want to kiss every part of her and she didn't mind. The feelings his lips created made her swoon and want more. She'd never felt this way before. She'd never let herself go until now and she knew it. But his kisses and touches aroused her like a young tigress, and she wanted every moment to please him.

  "I love you Wes, so much… "

He kissed her neck, all the way down, over her shoulders and then to her breasts. She had ample breast, not huge, but they filled his hands and when he touched his mouth to them, she bolted toward him and then lifted her breasts to his waiting mouth.

He laved her nipples over and over, then moved down to her waist and ran his hands around the smallness there. He touched her belly button and let his tongue slide inside. She squirmed to be closer.

But when he went further, he parted her legs. He ran his hand over her legs, with appreciation then he opened them and spread her so he could look at her. His nose moved to touch her first, then his lips moved against her gently. "Am I hurting you?" he asked.

"No," she cried with such a sigh. "Oh Wes, no… "

His tongue shot out to taste and then he kissed her there. She was wreathing with wants and needs now. He looked at her there and saw she was warm and wet, and he grinned.

She was clawing at him as his very breath excited her into a frenzy. She'd never been touched so. And the delight she felt made her move closer to him offering herself to him like a sacrifice.

Then something happened, like some kind of volcano inside her exploded with such excitement and such a feeling she couldn't describe it. She called out his name and he smiled against her there.

He came up to her and before she knew what hit her, he entered her, gently, but very deeply. She sighed, pulled his hair, and cried out. "Oh Wes."

For a while he just moved inside her slowly, edging his way inside her, making sure she was comfortable. Then he began a rythm and she felt that same explosion, but he was inside her now and it was much more intense. She climbed him, she scratched him, she kissed him for all he was worth and then she collapsed in his arms as he sighed with complete satisfaction.

Moments later when they came down from the high of making love, he whispered, "Did I hurt you?"

She laughed, "Hurt me, my God, no! It was wonderful."

Now he really kissed her, making her body quake with an aftermath of an orgasm. She shuddered from the kiss that heated her body and made her want him again.

After making love twice, he was hungry, so they got up and had a cheese plate that he had brought with him from their supper.

But she went to the powder room and when she came out, she was wearing the outfit that showed all of her almost.

"Well, what do you think?" she asked.

"I think you won't have that on long, my God, sweetheart, if you were a saloon girl in that outfit, I'd be marching you out o
f here over my shoulder, right now. I thought it was kinda pretty, but you make it beautiful."

She put her hands on his shoulders, and her breast were pushed up so high she thought she might spill out of it, but he kissed the tops of them and nosed at her cleavage. I think I got two for the price of one."

"What do you mean?" she asked.

"I got my shy little wife, and I got a temptress too." He smiled.

"Don't worry, I'll only wear it for you. But she sat down beside him now and reached for his hand. "I want to thank you for being so gentle with me. For being so loving. I've never been loved before, Wes. And I won't lie to you, I enjoyed every moment of it." She confessed.

He turned her face toward him, "I love you sweetheart, whether it's in this outfit, as a temptress or in a homespun dress, or in overalls.

"I got another confession." She told him.

  "Okay, what now?"

"I-I've never in my life seen a more beautiful man. I've never wanted to look at a man more than I wanted to look at you. I like everything about you Wes. And I plan on spending a lifetime showing you just how much. Everything about you excites me, it has from the beginning."

"Why did it take you so long to tell me?"

"Because I was a widow, and the feeling you aroused from the beginning shocked me. They were so new to me. And I thought I shouldn't be looking."

"Well now you can look all you want, and so can I, I hope."

She snuggled against him. "You really like this outfit on me?"

"I love it, and I'll love it even more, taking it off of you." He chuckled.

"Thank you for this trip. I don't have the words to tell you how much it means to me."

"I know how much it means to you. I've wanted to take you on this trip ever since that night I found you out watching the boat."

"I'll never forget this, how you made my dream come true."

"You've made a few of mine come true, too! I bought this outfit, after you told me about considering becoming a saloon girl. It was a fantasy of mine to see you in it."

  "You're easy to please."

"I never thought you'd wear it for me?"

"You're my husband, and nothing is wrong with it, in our bed, in fact, it's kind of flattering that you wanted me to wear it." She admitted.

"You've changed my life Kate. And I never thought I'd find a woman who could love me, the way I am."

"The way you are is wonderful. I wouldn't change a thing."

  "Even my drifting?"

"I'd have gone with you, if you'd have asked."

He pulled her into his arms, laughing and kissing her. "You are priceless sweetheart. Absolutely priceless. And I wouldn't change a thing about you either."

"We're a good match, and we're going to have lots of babies, because I've decided I like making love, very much." She giggled as she kissed his nipple.

  "You little minx!" he laughed.

  "Promise me one thing."

  "What's that sweetheart?"

"If you ever want or need to drift again, take me with you."

"Deal! I promise." He kissed her then slid the straps of her outfit down. "God, I want you again, but how do I get this off of you."

She giggled, "the stockings come off first."

He unfastened them and slid the stocking down slowly, kissing every part of her leg while doing so. She watched in fascination. "Now what?" He asked huskily.

She turned so he could untie her in the back. He threw her stockings over the chair.

When he had her completely undressed again, he stared at her. Then he touched her with his hands, going over every part of her and enjoying the feel of her. Kate lost the feeling of shyness now, wanting to please him in every way. She stood up and posed for him, as his eyes glittered. When her shy smile returned, he took her hand and pulled her close. "Lady, I'll never need a saloon girl again."

There was a freedom she recognized in loving a man so much, she trusted him, and he didn't let her down. She felt she could do anything with this man she loved so deeply.

The camisole fell from her body and he stared. Lifting her by her buttocks, he put her on the bed.

"I'll want you until I die," he whispered, she smiled. They played games, they talked, they loved, He nuzzled her breasts, kissing each one with such pleasure.

Her face relaxed into a sensual smile, "I never thought it could be this good, Wes."

"We've got years of good, honey. Years." He repeated as he kissed her tenderly.

"I'll never tire of the way you love me, but now, I want to love you… "

Her eyes were on fire for him as he stared into her lovely face.

She took his shaft in her hands and just as gently as he had loved her, she made love to him. He gasped at her boldness and sighed with such satisfaction as her lips went up and down him and she moved to excite him. She'd never done anything like this before, she wasn't sure she was doing it right until he began to move with her and heard his guttural moans of pleasure. But that wasn't all, she began to move her body to the rhythm he created. He watched in pure satisfaction and exploded with and erotic orgasm as her body enticed his pleasure.

Spent, his hands went all over her, massaging her sweet butt as he kissed her body.

When he pulled away, he saw the sensual gaze she shot him. "It's a good thing you aren't a saloon girl!" He smiled.

"Why?" she smiled with satisfaction, knowing she'd pleased him beyond words.

"Because I'd have a hellova time pulling you out of a saloon full of men that would line up to have you." He chuckled.

"You say the sweetest things," she mocked and laughed.

He was sure he might die of happiness with her in his arms.

They'd done more than make love. They both realized that the trust and sweet harmony between them would make one of the strongest marriages.

The next day they went out and watched the boat drifting slowly up the river. "It's so beautiful here. It's all I ever imagined it would be. I'll never forget these days together. I'll cherish them as long as I live."

"I liked it too. You kind of sold me on it the night I watched you at the river." He pulled her close. "And maybe we can do this again sometime, say on our anniversary."

He wrapped his arms around her and held her close, kissing her and whispering sweet words to her.

She knew she'd found true love and he'd found a peace that made him an even better man than she had dreamed. "I guess you know, you made all my dreams come true." She said then kissed him in broad daylight. Some watched them and smiled.

They might have hard times. They might face trials throughout their life. But the love they found in each other assured them they could cope with anything.

He'd promised to stay long enough to help her get her crops in, he fulfilled that promise. Now he'd promised to make her the happiest woman, and every day he made good on that promise.

They had a long and happy marriage of forty-seven years together. During this time they had two children, a girl, and a boy. Dickens bought more hogs and raised them, and everyone came to him for their pork from Tooley. He lived to be ninety-five years old with his grandchildren close at hand when he finally died. They laid him to rest with Jim. Black Feather and his two sons stayed with them and helped to make the Mustang Ranch one of the biggest in Texas. They accumulated a fortune running the ranch and they took several trips down the Mississippi river. They lived like regular folks, Kate never became the refined lady, and Wes often thought of his days as a drifter as a time in his life when he was totally lost and now was found. Perhaps that's why he was so satisfied with Kate all those years.
